Holy Land & Egypt Pilgrimage Memories (June 2023)

Returning from the Holy Land, our footsteps may have moved on, but our hearts remain forever touched by the very places where Jesus once walked.

The Holy Land and Egypt pilgrimage in June 2023 with Alpha Travel was more than just a journey across the globe; it was a profound return to the roots of our Faith. We invite you to look back at the most deeply moving moments — from the heartwarming renewal of marriage vows at Cana and experiencing the blessed waters of the Jordan River, to the silent tears shed while carrying the Cross along the Via Dolorosa.

We thank God for His abundant grace and a safe journey. Our deepest gratitude goes to our Spiritual Directors and all the pilgrims who joined Alpha Travel to make this an unforgettable experience of faith and fellowship!

FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH IN THE HOLY LAND & JORDAN (JUNE 2023)

Join Alpha Tour as we look back at the priceless memories and overwhelming emotions of our pilgrims during this 10-day Holy Land pilgrimage. Every step was a prayer of thanksgiving, and every destination was an awakening of Faith!

 

Day 1 (June 18, 2023): The First Footsteps in Nazareth – Where the Word Became Flesh

Embarking on this grace-filled Catholic pilgrimage, our group visited the Basilica of the Annunciation and St. Joseph’s Church – the home of the Holy Family. Emotions overflowed as we stood atop the sacred Mount Tabor, contemplating the mystery of the Transfiguration together.

Day 2 (June 19, 2023): The Miracle of Love at Cana & The Marks on the Sea of Galilee

A profoundly moving day as couples in the Alpha Tour group renewed their blessed marriage vows at the Wedding Church in Cana. The journey continued with visits to the Church of the Beatitudes, the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes, and a beautiful, peaceful moment on the Sea of Galilee, filled with the Lord’s presence.

Day 3 (June 20, 2023): The Sacred Jordan River & Conquering the Mount of Temptation

Tears of joy fell as our group was blessed by our Spiritual Director with water from the Jordan River, allowing everyone to relive their Sacrament of Baptism. After a devout Holy Mass at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Jericho, the group experienced the world’s longest cable car ride to the peak of the Mount of Temptation, meditating on the supreme sacrifices of Jesus.

 

Day 4 (June 21, 2023): The Joy of the Visitation & A Holy Night in Bethlehem

Following in the footsteps of the Virgin Mary to visit St. Elizabeth, the group offered prayers of thanksgiving at the Church of the Visitation. The most sacred moment of the day was when our pilgrims knelt in silent reverence by the Holy Manger in Bethlehem – contemplating the birthplace of the saving Love of Christmas.

 

Day 5 (June 22, 2023): Reflection at the Cenacle & Touching the Western Wall

Following a solemn Holy Mass at the Room of the Last Supper (The Cenacle), the group entered a deeply historical and somber space, placing their hands on the millennia-old Western Wall to offer their prayers. The day concluded with a mysterious exploration of the ancient Hezekiah’s Tunnel deep within the City of David.

 

Day 6 (June 23, 2023): The Miracle of Resurrection at Bethany & The Historical Witness of Masada

The group celebrated Holy Mass together at the Church of St. Lazarus in Bethany and visited the Tomb of Lazarus – a powerful testament to the Lord’s resurrection power. In the afternoon, everyone was in awe of the magnificent beauty and tragic history of Masada National Park.

 

Day 7 (June 24, 2023): Carrying the Cross on the Via Dolorosa – The Way of Suffering

This was undoubtedly the most tearful day of the Holy Land pilgrimage tour. Together, the group carried a heavy wooden Cross, walking along the Via Dolorosa towards Golgotha. In the afternoon, the group visited the Pools of Bethesda, recalling the miracle of Jesus healing the paralyzed man as recorded in the New Testament (John 5:2).

 

Day 8 (June 25, 2023): Vigil at the Garden of Gethsemane & The Mount of Olives

The journey brought the group to the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem, where we celebrated Holy Mass at the Basilica of the Agony in Gethsemane. Kneeling beside the historical rock—where Jesus sweat blood in prayer before His arrest—everyone deeply felt His profound and self-giving love.

 

Day 9 (June 26, 2023): The View from Mount Nebo & An Unforgettable Experience at the Dead Sea

The group set foot on the sacred peak of Mount Nebo, where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land before his passing. That afternoon, the pilgrims enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing and unique experience floating effortlessly on the hyper-saline waters of the Dead Sea.

 

Day 10 (June 27, 2023): Discovering the Ancient Rose City of Petra in Jordan

Concluding this grace-filled pilgrimage, the group explored the archaeological city of Petra, one of the greatest wonders of southern Jordan. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the camel ride experience and listening to the millennia-old historical tales of this mystical desert land.
