Mexico is a land of diverse landscapes and captivating culture, a vibrant blend of indigenous traditions and Spanish heritage. As the world’s largest Spanish-speaking nation, it is a country deeply rooted in the Catholic faith.
In 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Juan Diego, a humble indigenous man, expressing her wish for a shrine to be built in her honor. The first chapel was erected on Tepeyac Hill—the site of the apparition—known today as the Chapel of the Little Hill (Cerrito). Today, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe stands as the premier pilgrimage site in the Americas, welcoming approximately 20 million faithful visitors annually.
